Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee oversees the interests of the NDHA in legislative matters affecting the licensure and practice of dental hygienists in the state of Nebraska It also is the committee that monitors and offers input regarding regulatory proposals and state regulations impacting dental hygiene education standards and scope of practice.

Component Education Committee
Patricia Kirkegaard, Committee Chair
The Component Education Committee promotes and coordinates dental hygiene continuing education programs at the component level to advance the education, knowledge, and profession of dental hygiene. The committee also assists in planning and implementing NDHA’s Annual and Fall Sessions a premier opportunity for dental hygiene professionals to discuss issues key to the profession.

Social Media Committee
Kara Lilienthal, Chair
Charged with creating and gathering content to share on the Nebraska Dental Hygienists Social Media pages to bring communication to our members and followers. It is important in this fast paced world to share content quickly and efficiently. This committee creates a content calendar and communicates regularly via email to ensure nothing is missed!

Membership Committee
Whitney Crist, Chair
The Membership Committee develops and pursues a continuous campaign to promote the benefits of membership to prospective members of ADHA/NDHA from among existing and student dental hygienists in Nebraska; they provide a liaison between NDHA and local components for membership recruitment and develop strategies to retain current members in the association.

Awards Committee
Marjean Stamm, Chair
The Award Committee is responsible for soliciting nominations from the NDHA membership to recognize outstanding service and leadership among our colleagues and convey their decisions to the Executive Board. The Committee also coordinates NDHA awards event at the annual session.

Bylaws & Ethics Committee
Heather Hessheimer, Chair
Charged with maintaining the NDHA Bylaws in accordance with the ADHA. Because of the tripartite association we have with ADHA and the local components, our Bylaws must not contradict each other. At each NDHA Annual Session the committee will bring forth suggested changes to the NDHA bylaws it deems necessary, and those that are needed to stay in accordance with ADHA bylaws changes. This committee will encourage members to uphold the ADHA Code of Ethics and the Nebraska Dental Practice Act. They will respond to questions and concerns from the NDHA membership and report their findings to the NDHA Executive Board.
